Fret Tunes is a music download store; our specialty is guitar instrumental CDs. By focusing on what we know best, we can provide better, personalised service to our customers and clients.
We sell music files in MP3 format, playable on all portable devices, and without cumbersome DRM restrictions. This means that you can make backup copies and also transfer your music to other computers and devices.
We also sell music files in FLAC format, which are exactly identical to CDs. These files are a lot bigger than MP3s, but provide the ultimate in audio quality. You can create CDs with these files, that are exact copies of the original CD.
I say "we", but Fret Tunes is really just me, Steve Passiouras. I also produce and host Fret Net, a guitar music radio show broadcast in Melbourne, Australia on PBS FM 106.7, and webcast to the world.
The idea for Fret Tunes began when my listeners started calling me during the show asking where they could buy some of the music I was playing. I'm hoping that Fret Tunes will provide fans of guitar music with a convenient and cost effective way of purchasing new guitar music.
Fret Tunes isn't a corporation, it isn't a faceless web site. You can contact Fret Tunes via e-mail, , and I'll be the person reading it.
I've been a big fan of guitar music since I was a kid. I've devoted myself to promoting this music, via my radio show. Fret Net just plays guitar music, instrumental mainly but also vocal songs. I don't get paid for my work as a radio person. I do it because I love the music, and I want to share it with the world. There's nothing I enjoy more than playing the music of an unknown, or under-represented artist.
It's a passion for me, and now Fret Tunes is a new passion. I've done all the work on this web site myself. All of the coding, the html, the css, the php, the database, everything. I didn't contract any of the development work out. I used to be a computer programmer and web developer, so don't worry, I know what I'm doing.
This means that I have total control over the site, and I can respond to your requests and ideas. If you would like to see something on here, let me know!
Finally, I'd like to acknowledge all the artists who have created the music we love. A lot of people tell me what a wonderful thing it is that I'm doing with my radio show, and now with Fret Tunes, but let's face it, it's the dedicated guitarists and other artists who make this music, and we're here for the music.
It's all about the music.
Cheers
Steve
